Impact of IZALA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Initiatives on Educational Support for Orphanages in Nasarawa State, Nigeria

Abstract

This study examined the impact of the IZALA group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives on educational support for orphanages in Nasarawa State, Nigeria. It evaluates the adequacy of the support provided, the types of educational assistance offered, and the challenges encountered in implementing these initiatives. Adopting a mixed-method approach, the study collected quantitative data through structured questionnaires from 345 respondents and qualitative data from 10 key informants using in-depth interviews. Findings reveal that while the IZALA group has made notable contributions—particularly in providing writing materials, textbooks, and uniforms—the support remains only moderately sufficient to meet the educational needs of orphanages. The study also identifies key challenges, including inconsistent funding, logistical difficulties, and limited stakeholder collaboration, which hinder the effectiveness and sustainability of the CSR initiatives. Based on these findings, the study recommends that the IZALA group seek additional funding sources, expand its support to include infrastructure development and teacher training, establish monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, and engage in policy advocacy to strengthen orphanage education.
